The wines of Alsace are not named after
the vineyards from which they come but after one of the 7 grapes varieties. We have all of
them in our vineyard.
Our wines
Sylvaner , fresh and light wine with a
delicate flavor
Pinot Blanc or Klevner,
well-rounded yet delicate, combines freshness and softness.
Tokay d'Alsace Pinot Gris,
develops
characteristic roundness and opulence; rich, full-bodied with a long finish.
Muscat d'Alsace, dry, very different from
sweet South's Muscat, ;very aromatic and reveals the true flavor of the fresh grapes
Riesling is dry, refined and delicately
fruity, with an elegant bouquet of mineral or floral notes. He's the King of Alsace
wines.
Pinot Noir is the only Alsace variety to
produce red or "rose" wines , fruity with hints of cherry
Gewurztraminer, full-bodied and
well-structured, with an intense bouquet dispaying rich aromas of fruit, flowers and
spices.
Edelzwicker, is a wine made from
several
grapes varieties of our wineyard.
All these wines have the label "Vins d'
Appellation Alsace Contrôlée (A.O.C.)"
We produce also from our own vineyard some vintages
"A.O.C. Vins d'Alsace Grands Crus."
A.O.C. Alsace Grand Cru (vintage) status is given only to wines
which
satisfy particulary strict quality standards. They must come from specific
vineyards, have
a certain degree of natural ripeness and must pass a tasting test by a panel of experts.
The Sommerberg (70 acres / 28 hectares)
situated on a very steep slope (45°), the vineyards face due south and exceed 400
meters
of elevation. The subsoil made of the so-called Turckheim granite with black and white
micas. We wintage there our Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg.
The Florimont (52 acres / 21 hectares)
marno - challky ground, relatively stony. This is a very good area for wine
production. We wintage there our Tokay Grand Cru Florimont. |
